Plane allegedly shot down by Cossack militants

SEPANG: Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was allegedly shot down by a group of Russian-backed Cossack militants, according to recordings of intercepted phone calls between Russian military intelligence officers and the terrorist group, says Ukraine's English newspaper Kyiv Post.
The transcript was released by Ukraine security agency (SBU).
A phone call was made at 4.40pm Kyiv time or 20 minutes after the plane crash, by one Igor Bezler, who according to SBU is a Russian military intelligence officer and leading commander of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic.
Bezler reported to Vasili Geranin, a person identified by Ukraine's SBU as a colonel in the main intelligence department of the Russian Federation armed forces general headquarters, regarding the shot down plane which was about to be examined by the militants.
The second intercepted conversation released by SBU was between two militants, nicknamed "Major" and "Greek", after going to the crash site.
"It's a 100% a civilian aircraft. There are a lot of people. I am only seeing the bodies, remains of the console and chairs. There are no weapons, nothing at all, only civilian clothes, medical supplies, towels, toilet papers," Major says to Greek.
Cossack commander Nikolay Kozitsin says to an unidentified militant cynically suggests that the Malaysia Airlines airplane could have been carrying spies, or otherwise, it would have no business flying in that area.
The terrorist group was based near the village of Chornukhine, Luhansk Oblast, some 80 kilometers north-west of Donetsk.
