PKR backs new probe on Altantuya’s murder

PETALING JAYA: PKR today backed a former inspector-general of police Musa Hassan’s call to reopen investigation into the murder of Mongolian translator Altantuya Shaariibuu.

PKR vice president Tian Chua said that the recent revelations made by carpet trader Deepak Jaikishan, private investigator the late P Balasubramaniam and lawyer Americk Sindhu had raised sufficient concerns to launch a new probe.

“The revelations may point to the motive of Altantuya’s murder, which has yet to be established till now,” said Tian Chua at a press conference held at the party headquarters.

Yesterday, Musa had urged the police to reopen the case due to the surfacing of new evidence.
He cited the allegation where the second statutory declaration (SD2) filed by Balasubramaniam was allegedly facilitated by a veteran lawyer, at the behest of Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak.
“If there is new evidence, then there must be new investigation,” Musa was reported saying.
