GEORGE TOWN: Hundreds of people were evacuated from the High Court building here after the police received a bomb threat from a man with a with middle-Eastern accent this morning.
However, it proved to be a hoax. State CID chief Mazlan Kesah said the police state contingent received a call at 10am from a stranger, who spoke English in Arab accent.
The stranger had told the police that there was a bomb planted in the High Court.
About 25 police personnel, including a K-9 unit and bomb disposal squad, immediately arrived at the building and told everyone to move out.
After combing the building structure and compound for nearly an hour, police then confirmed that it was bomb-free. Police are now tracking down on the caller.
